  • Dubai Trade Hosts IPCSA Annual Meeting, Spotlighting Ai and Sustainable Port Innovation

The International Port Community Systems Association (IPCSA) held its annual members’ meeting in Dubai for the first time, hosted by Dubai Trade at the DP World Pavilion, Expo City Dubai, on 29–30 October.

This two-day event brought together Port Community System and Single Window operators from around the world to discuss digital collaboration, AI, sustainability and the future of trade facilitation under the theme “Digital Collaboration in Future Trade: The Power of Communities.”

Javier Gallardo, Chairman of IPCSA and CEO of Portic Barcelona, said: “IPCSA is a truly global association and it is essential for us to be present in key locations where international trade is most active. At present, Dubai and the Middle East are among the fastest-growing regions in terms of trade and logistics, playing a central role in global connectivity and innovation.”

Mohamed AbuHamra, COO – Digital Technology, DP World GCC, highlighted Dubai’s role as a hub for innovation and connectivity, adding,  “It is a privilege to be part of IPCSA, which brings together leading minds shaping the future of trade. This year’s focus on sustainability and AI reflects two of the biggest priorities of our industry.  We are integrating these principles into our solutions to drive more efficient, sustainable and data-driven trade ecosystems.”

The session explored a range of global priorities, including AI adoption, Key Trade Data standardisation and the development of digital trade corridors. Members also discussed the role of environmental sustainability and data harmonisation in shaping the next generation of port ecosystems.

Dubai Trade also shared insights on its latest solutions like Trade+ which has reduced cargo release times by up to 90% and CargoWaves, an AI-powered inland logistics solution which has reduced idle truck time by 25% and facilitated two million+ container journeys to date.

The meeting concluded with a tour of Jebel Ali Port’s advanced infrastructure and digital systems, and a networking session to strengthen collaboration.
