Update on the Extension of the National Disinfection Programme

As part of preventive and precautionary measures to contain COVID-19, the National Disinfection Programme has been renewed for two weeks from Saturday, 4th of April 2020, pursuant to the decision of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management. Restrictions on the movement of vehicular traffic and the public are now extended to include daytime as well, covering 24 hours, with exceptions made only for some vital sectors and essential services.
The public must stay home and leave only to obtain essential food supplies or medicine or perform essential jobs in vital sectors. The vital sectors permitted to carry out their activities include the following:
- Healthcare services (Hospitals, clinics and pharmacies)
- Food supply outlets (Union Cooperative outlets, supermarkets, groceries)
- Delivery services (Food and medicine)
- Restaurants (operations limited to home deliveries only)
- Manufacturers of medicines and providers of healthcare and medical supplies
- Industrial sector (only vital industries)
- Industrial supply chain for services and basic commodities
- Water and electricity sector, petrol and gas stations and district cooling services
- Telecommunications sector
- Media sector
- Airports, airlines, ports, shipping
- Customs duty and border crossings
- Public and private security services
- Municipality services and public and private service providers involved in garbage collection, sewage management and general cleaning and sanitation
- Private and government sector organisations involved in combating the coronavirus (COVID-19).
- Public transport (buses and taxis only; metro and tram services will be suspended)
- Construction sector, subject to obtaining a permit from Dubai Municipality and the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs
SUPPORT SECTORS (Employees working in these sectors are permitted to commute to work between 8.00 am and 2.00 pm)
- Banking and financial services (banks and exchange centres)
- Social welfare services
- Maintenance services
- Laundry services (for permitted outlets)
All Jafza customers/vendors will be required to present their Emirates ID, Employee ID and necessary permits to enter the Free Zone.
Companies that don’t fall within the above-mentioned sectors should resume work from home.
DP World, UAE Region’s Parks and Zones (Jafza, National Industries Park, Dubai Auto Zone) operations will continue uninterrupted to deliver all services essential to ensure the movement of goods and supplies.
Finally, we request you and all your employees to adhere to all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, such as:
- Wash both hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rubs.
- Maintain a social distance of at least 1 metre between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
- Cover mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth without washing your hands.
- Take enough rest and a large amount of fluids.
Also, always seek information related to COVID-19 only through official channels such as the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
