In today’s world, it is even more specific - information is the power that drives business, and with the tools available in our IT world, it drives efficiency and therefore profit. Dubai Trade is a fantastic example of how successful that can be. The acceptance of the Dubai Trade Portal and the astonishing growth in the number of transactions crossing that portal is evidence that it is making an appreciable difference to the trader’s business lives.

 Dubai has undergone tremendous growth over the years. Today, it enjoys its favorable place as a significant player in international trading and transport logistics. This growth is a result of the Dubai government’s strategy in developing sectors that have been the key contributors to economic growth, including transport and logistics, as detailed in the Dubai Strategic Plan (DSP) 2015.
DSP 2015 leverages on the UAE’s foremost advantage, its inherent strategic location on the globe. The UAE is right in the middle of the Far East and Europe and sits at the crossroad of international trade and commerce between the Eastern and Western worlds. Due to its location, the UAE is considered to be the gateway to the world’s most progressive markets, including Africa, India, and China.

 I was quite excited when approached by Dubai Trade to contribute to their new web portal as it gave me the opportunity to truly reflect on business in Dubai and how Dubai Trade helps facilitate business flow. Our view at Al Futtaim Logistics is that electronic and on line is the future so let’s review what we have seen with the development of Dubai Trade over that last few years.When you now look at the Dubai Trade web portal and the offering it brings, over 750 e services, 11million transactions, 35 thousand companies registered with Dubai Trade in 2010, there is no doubt the facility is a huge success and a shining example of what can be achieved through dedication, hard work and a solid vision.
